Akuma — the demon — a name for a blade with a darker face. The folded steel runs in a restless wave down the edge, the carved black scabbard swallows the light, and the copper fittings twist with motifs drawn from art and nature. Light in the hand and quick to move, it is built for the cutter who wants a sword with a little menace in it.

Forging & Steel

The 72 cm blade is folded Damascus steel, its distinct wave pattern the mark of repeated forge-welding and a unique, high-quality character. The layering gives the blade precise cutting ability with strength built into the grain. At 1.2 kg complete, it is tuned for manoeuvrability whether for training or for the display case, and that lighter weight is what lets a quick wrist drive a clean cut. The dark theme is deliberate: this is a sword meant to look as menacing as it cuts.

Fittings

The tsuba is sculpted copper worked with motifs from art and nature. The saya is carved from light, lacquered black wood, and the tsuka is wrapped in genuine stingray leather with a zinc-alloy menuki kit and two bamboo mekugi for a sure grip. The matte black scabbard drinks the light while the folded steel throws it back, and that push-and-pull is the whole character of the Akuma.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The Akuma is a full-tang folded blade light enough for fast training cuts and handsome enough for the shelf. See the rest of our katana collection, or compare folded siblings like the Kasei and the Hyō.
