Cada hoja se inspecciona, se engrasa y se embala con discreción — la caja nunca revela que dentro hay una espada.

The kanji reads as the turtle — the old symbol of endurance and long life — and that is the character of this sword: not flashy, but built to last and to take the patient, repeated work of training. Each blade is hand-hammered, so no two carry quite the same surface; like the shell of the turtle, the finish is unique to the individual.

Forging & Steel

The blade is forged from high-carbon T10 tool steel and finished by hand-hammering, a process that gives each sword an individual character across the surface. Differential hardening raises a corrugated, wavy hamon along the edge, and the high carbon content delivers exceptional hardness and lasting edge retention — the hard edge backed by a tougher spine that lets the blade endure repeated cutting practice.

Mounting & Fittings

The copper tsuba is decorated with gold and silver nature themes, set against a green-lacquered saya representing nature, with a contrasting black sageo. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen with tsukamaki wrap, a copper menuki kit and two bamboo mekugi over a true full-tang blade, giving a secure grip suited to precise training movements.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. Tame is a sharpened, full-tang T10 blade with a real corrugated hamon — a functional training katana built to endure, light at 1.2 kg and secure in the grip for precise movements. The hand-hammered finish means each one is slightly individual. Compare it with the mirror-polished Katana Tori and the meteor-themed Katana Ryousei in our katana range.
